Turns out I maybe I was right- $480 for a new windshield was too good to be true. I just got a call the day before my appoinment, and they tell me the glass they quoted is no longer available (Safelite stopped making it apparently) and it will now cost $750 !!! Unreal.

i would talk with a manager/director/vp/president and insist they honor the $ 480 price using $ 750 glass if necessary. they should know their production schedules and inventory before making customer commitment...
it annoys me when vendors play such bait and switch games.

That’s probably factory glass. I had this done by Safelite two years ago and the cost was the same. They did a good job after I removed the dash top. My insurance company paid 100% for the repair.
