993 head room and C2S questions

993 head room and C2S questions
I've been throwing around the idea of selling my 996 C2,
and buying a '97 or '98 993 C2 for track use. That way
I'd have more $$ to spend on upgrades for the track--suspension,
wheels, tires, etc (you all know the bug...). I just tried sitting
in a 993 with power seats and it seemed that there would never
be enough head room for my 6'2" frame capped with the helmet.
I currently do not have power seats in the 996 and all is ok with
the helmet. Do you guys find that the 993 has less head room
than the 996? Do any of you taller guys have trouble with your
993's with no power seats--that is with a helmet on?
Also, can someone explain the differences between a C2S and
regular C2, besides the obvious wide-body exterior?
Thanks for any info!

I've never sat in a 996 with a helmet on but, at 5'11" and with a longish torso, my helmet hits the roof of my powered seat 993. When I'm waiting on the false grid, I wish for more headroom but once I'm on the track, I hardly notice it at all.
If your 993 is going to be a track car, why not get a set of race seats so that you can gain some extra inches?

I ended up installing a pair of Cobra Imola II's for this very reason, more headroom. Actually a few other reasons as well like the proper use of 6pt. belts etc.
I must say the 'race' seats are a huge improvement in headroom and better feel for what the car is doing under you. These seats are not that hard to get in and out of either. Quite comfy for longer drives as well.

I'm 5'11" with a longish torso, and I fit fine with a helmet in my 993 with power seats. However, mine is a sunroof-delete car, which obviously adds headroom.
As Kim noted, I think a standard 993 Carrera would be a better track car than an S -- it has a bit less aero drag, and it's a bit lighter.
