Most Days in Life Don't Stand Out, But These Do!

Anyone that owns a 993 will love to read your story if they haven't already. Funny that you thought someone might steal your car that first night you parked it. They're like our precious babies when we first get them.
I flew out to Chicago to get mine 12 years ago to this month and drove it back in 12 hours (it had 59K mi at the time). It was the most memorable trip I ever took in that car. I have 107k miles and it drives, feels and looks exactly the same as when I bought it. I doubt may people that have a 20 year old car would say that about their car.
Cool that your wife is so into 911's. Not all of us have had that sweet situation in our marriages.
May you enjoy it as much as I enjoy mine. I LOVE my car, even more so, after reading your travelogue.
Cheers,
Steve

Congrats on your new 993. Your excitement comes through in your writing. I can assure you, that excitement never ends. Enjoy yours as I believe we all are extremely lucky to own such a unique piece of automotive history.

Great story. Dads and Porsches - great combo. Your dad looks almost as happy as you. Beautiful car. My first Porsche, I bought out of college in '74. It was a '63 356B. My dad I drove it from NJ to Maine for a week fishing vacation. Awesome. We got back after 10 hours on the road, I dropped him off at my house, ran out for a six pack, got pulled over and ticketed for 35 in a 25 mph zone. I mean jeez.
I since moved on to a '77 911S and much later a '74 914 2L. Three years ago I bought my '95 993. The best, most fun car I've ever owned.
Welcome to the club.

The wife has been wanting a Macan for a while now, but now that she has experienced the 911 she keeps dropping hints that she wants one too I definitely found a good one

Easiest tail light access I have ever seen on any car I have owned! Just unscrew a single screw and it pops right out

Just saw this post today, great story and awesome journey home. I love these threads and reading the passion of new ownership.
BTW some 993s look better with Cup 2s, yours looks perfect don't change them.

Congrats on a great transaction! A few of us have been on those roads that you covered - with your car in the group - many times. I am glad that you had great roads for your maiden voyage.
I have enjoyed several cross-country trips in newly acquired cars - you won't forget it and it can be a great part of the buying experience.
Enjoy a great and unique car. Lucky that your wife has caught the bug!

Jason has a set of nice Hollow Twists. I considered buying them before I picked up the car but they were from a 996 with 7.5 inch fronts. When I saw the car in person I was glad a held off. The Cups looks great with the stance
