Wait?! Parts are not supposed to be coming off at this stage! No, its just at the detail shop getting the paint perfected, Xpel film installed and OptiCoat. Now that she looks pretty I have to try and maintain that.

Xpel was applied to the front bumper, headlights, fenders, hood, mirrors, doors, rockerpanels, lower half of rear quarter panels and a strip on the rear bumper where debris hits.

OptiCoat was applied to the entire car.

I asked the shop and they told me

"We have a Chief EZ-Liner Frame machine that was used for all of the pull work on the car. We utilize a Continental UMS measuring system that has pre-set points on the vehicle to measure off of"

I am happy with the repairs. Mikes took a lot of care in the work and replaced only what had to be. The reasoning was that an original panel that has been repaired properly is better than a replaced panel when it comes to cutting a car apart. I agree with this.

I found the 2nd owner of the car awhile back and he was excited to hear from its new owner. I think we all wonder what happened to the car we let go. Steve was super nice and sent me the original decklid for the car which was also repainted at this time. The lid will stay with the car and if sold go to the new owner. I may put it on in the future, who knows.

Extra items that were done while it was in the shop.

Euro bumpers front and rear
Headlight washer delete
Turbo S chin spolier
Clear cornering lenses
Turbo S style foglight/air ducts (LED)
repaint the brake calipers (they used an incorrect decal, they are fixing this)

Still on the list to do.

Remove the rollbar and powdercoat
RS carpet
RS door panels
Not sure of lower dash and center console yet.
New seats, thinking of the Imola Pro-fit

Unfortunately the car is stuck in NH for the winter. I have scheduled two events at WGI so far though. I have 5 events left on my track policy, I cant waste them!

Who did the detailing/Xpel work for you? Do you know if they did a custom wrap or used the machine to cut the pieces for the car?

thanks,
rob

Rick at Unique Car Care in Stoneham Mass http://www.uccboston.com

It was a custom job using roll material vs precut. If it's dirty you can find the seams, if it's clean they are hard to see from more than a foot or two away.

Damn- that looks great. Glad you were ok, that the car was salvageable and that the results turned out great!

The car looks great now! I'd be afraid to take it out on the track now because it looks so pristine.

I've thought of selling it for that reason but then I took it for a drive since the roads had been clear for a few weeks. It's just too much fun to drive!
