Check the old archives...it depends on the color of your car. My 97 and 98 Guards red cars did not have clear coats (single stage). Supposedly, the metallic colors did/do.

My '95 is Iris Blue Metallic and definitely is clear coated. This was discussed in late summer and, as indicated by Chris, all metallic colors are clear coated.
Mine is Grand Prix White, I'll have to check with some compound, although it will be hard being the compound is white as well. Maybe some 1000 grit paper under the bumper, then buff the spot with compound.
