I need to ship my 993 from the Washington DC area to Atlanta. Does anyone have any recommendations on carriers to use or carriers to stay away from?

Thanks.

I have had good experiences with Intercity - used them twice. Drivers tend to be car buffs, careful with your car and interested in what they carry - also willing to show you the interesting toys already loaded on the truck.

I second Mike's endorsement of Intercity lines. They took my cab from SF to Chicago. On time, great communication in route, very nice truck. Chances are your car will the least expensive one on the truck

Intercity said Chicago to Atlanta was not one of their routes when I was looking for such service last August. You may have better luck. Check the Panorama and Excellence for others.

I used Thomas Sunday for a Denver to Baltimore delivery last August. Very good service and no complaints.

Contact Brian Buxton at Buxton Motorsports. He ships P-cars across the country all the time and arranged the shipment of my car for me. I was very satisfied with the service. No affiliation....blah, blah

Jes:

I'll be shipping my recently-purchased 993 in the coming weeks and after researching the options, I settled on either Passporter or Horseless Carriage. Do NOT use Autobahn! A friend of mine recently bought a 1997 C2S with 1800 miles on it. The seller sent him digital photos of it after it was placed in their transporter. It showed the exact mileage and that the gas tank was full and that the car was detailed to the max. Unfortunately, a week or so later, the transporter arrives and unloads my friend's car....in filthy condition and with 3/4 tank of gas in it and an extra 100 miles on the odometer! Not surprisingly, the driver of the transporter acted like he couldn't speak English and quickly drove off. Beware of Autobahn! They are also not properly insured!
