Has anyone installed this light? There is a hole but no rubber grommet or assembly. The bulb and socket are around $10 at Suncoast- no mention of rubber or whatever to hold socket. Someone mentioned same bulb as ashtray?
Is it difficult to wire this into door courtesy lights?
An aside. The FD Motorsports "Golden Rod". Is it worthwhile?

FDs Golden Rod is one of the best mods and best values for these cars! a must do mod and not difficult to DIY. recommended!!
if you do a search here on Rennlist I remember some folks installing the ignition lighting using a small LED bulb. it would be great to have that feature....

Golden rod & ssk are a must, along with new motor (RS/Wevos/solid) mounts. Then suspension upgrades, control arm bushes, etc.........
I can't load the vid I made when I made my own GR, but when you see how much slop is in the original assm. you'll see it's an obvious advantage to get (or make) the GR

My 97 C4S has the ignition light from the factory. Maybe yours does too?
There is a rubber grommet that holds the bulb and base in place. Two wires go from the bulb into the harness. You will need to pull out the oil pressure/temp gauge (It's press fit in so carefully pry it out with a flat head covered in cloth). Check and see if perhaps the grommet is missing and your bulb/base/two wires are behind the gauge.
The bulb is a 1.2 watt mini wedge. You can get it from Porsche or an equivalent from local parts stores. It's the same bulb that lights up the fog light/defrost pull switches.
My bulb was blown when I bought the car. I tried a generic replacement and then OEM Porsche bulb and neither would light up. I'm only getting 9 Volts so I am still trying to find out where the voltage drop is.

I think if you do a search [try google, the rennlist search sucks] you will find the posts about installing the key light - its very inexpensive.
If I recall correctly Radio Shack had the bits to do it.
