Default Rear-facing infant/baby seat

Hi

I have spent the last hour searching this forum, for a conclusive answer about whether or not a rear-facing baby seat can be fitted in the back of a 993. We have a baby on the way, and I'd really love include the 993 in that experience.

There are a number of "will report back with pictures" cliffhangers on this forum, and a bunch of older threads with now discontinued models.

Does anyone on this forum have recent experience with fitting a rear/backwards faced babyseat in the back of a 993?

Thanks!

I seriously doubt it- I used to put a car seat in the back of my 85 911- but A rear facing seat is a lot deeper.

The only lead I have to go on is the post by Beretta:

I'm from Denmark, and this chair/model is still sold here so unless someone comes up with a better suggestion thats my best bet right now.

Thanks.

I started using the Britax Roundabout with my daughter after she turned one. It faces forward and you still end up running the passenger seat forward a bit, but its doable. Not sure a rear facing infant seat would fit.

I have a Graco sunride35 rear facing and there is no way the passenger front seat will be usable.

I have a 4 month old and so my C4S has been collecting dust in the garage.

Planning on Britax Marathon front facing for when she is over 1 year and 20lbs. Graco Nautilus is also supposed to work as front facing.

FWIW I gave up last year on getting a rear-facing car seat into the backseat of my 993. I would love to be proven wrong, but after setting my Chicco keyfit 30 in the back, I couldn't see how any rear-facing car seat would work and still leave the front passenger seat useful.

I have a Britax Marathon forward-facing installed now (started after he was 1 year/20 lbs). I only use it for the short drive to daycare when we're in a pinch as we prefer to keep him rear-facing as long as possible. The fit is mediocre at best, although I still need to implement some of the tricks I've read on here - maybe I'll be happier with the fit then.

I don't think it's possible to get a rear-facing car seat into a 993. Wait out the first year / 18 months (it'll go by fast enough) and then get the Cosco forward-facing seat from Walmart for $60 and you'll be in business.

DIY and child seat should never be used in the same sentence.

I had a Graco seat that fit rearward position using the seat belt and a tensioner/lock. No pics as it was 7 yrs ago, but it can be done. Major hassle and not to be done daily.

You have to disable any passenger seat airbag to use the front seat with any sort of child seat (if your car has a passenger side airbag, I don't know if 993s have them offhand.) Unless your 993 is your only vehicle, I'd strongly recommend that you wait until your child is old enough for a forward-facing child seat that you can put in the back seat.

Been using this for my first kid and now the second. Works great and the wife sits in front. Get a rear seat belt extension. i have recaro sportster CS seats infront.

I am a certified car seat tech. I would not use ANY rear facing infant seat in our cars. Might be neat, but the risk to your child is not worth it. All seats should be in the center position. Not possible in a 911.
