Hello everyone. New guy here. Just purchased my 97 C4S about an 4 hours ago.
Hello everyone. My name is Matt and I'm new to the 993 world. I've owned several Porsches in the past though and have always wanted an air cooled one. I have previously owned 3 996s, a 986 boxster, a 987 boxster, an 06 cayman s, and an 07 cayman s.
I sold my 2003 C4S about 4 months ago when my wife and I brought our baby girl home from the NICU. I sold it because a car seat wouldn't fit. Ha ha, well, I was going into withdrawals so my wife specifically told me to just go buy what I want and not worry about the car seat. She has an M37x and I have a 740 as my DD now anyways. Well, I did just that. She took me to meet the owner of the C4S a few hours ago and I drove it home. It needs a little love but it really is a great car. The bonnet sticker doesn't show many options, so it was a very basic C4S WB. Guards Red/Black 6 speed with 61k on the odo. It has some fading and the front diff is disconnected. Is there anyone that you guys recommend that I could call to get some advice on a few specifics I might have on the car? I live in north MS. Thanks in advance and am proud to be a part of this community. I've been a part of planet 9 and 6speedonline for ages but am just now signing up for Rennlist. Oh, and I've been in the PCA for a good while. Thanks everyone. It was dark when I got home this evening, but here are a couple of pics:

Ha ha I drove it a good two hours. What are your thoughts on the front diff being disconnected? I'm an experienced driver and ran scca for 3 years, so I'm very much used to an rwd 911, but does that throw off the C4Ss characteristics and predictability in corners? Thanks. The previous owner said it started making a faint whine so he disconnected it so it wouldn't become damaged further.

Congratulations on both your new babies and welcome to the 993 Widebody family!! Check out the many Youtube videos of other 993 owners and their Fister Stage exhaust systems. You may decide you need something more to the engine exhaust sound.

Hi,
I'd strongly recommend leaving the front driveshaft connected unless you decide to do a proper 2WD conversion. This prevents CE lights and ABS fault codes.
Your viscous coupler inside the transmission may have failed so I'd suggest finding someone competent, honest and experienced with these cars to do a diagnoses on that whine you may be hearing.

Nice! You'll get it sorted out quick enough.
So this is your 8th Porsche? How does this one compare? The funny thing is you might actually keep this one!
Good luck and welcome.
