Default Green dash warning light

Driving to work this morning, a green dash warning light came on intermittently. It has a picture of a drive train, with front and rear axles, and a differential. Does anyone know what this means? There is no mention of it in my owners manual, and I did not find anything in Search.
It did not make the exclamation point light up, and it is green, so I'm assuming it is not an emergency.

Thanks

ABD system firing to stop wheel spin at low speed. I've only seen mine once when I was horsing around in a parking lot.

Only green light in my dash I believe is the ABD light. The 964 had a pic of a AWD system showing like a bolder center diff and front diff... What location in the gauge is it? Was ABD even an option in 95? Perhaps you have a 964 oil gauge in your 993? Maybe thats the indicator that comes in 95's or C2's?

Someone else will know more than me but I'm just curious now, LOL.

I thought that particular green illuminated dash light was in 964's only LOL. My 993 just says ABD.

I have to think it's the 964 PDAS green light as mentioned above.

Check out this thread that offers an explanation. For some reason, your car probably has a 964 oil gauge. It's similar, but not exactly like the 993 version.

Mine is a very early '95. The oil pressure, temp and level all look OK. The light is on when the car is stationary after pulling off the highway in cool weather, and goes out immediately when I begin to move.
If the PDAS light goes on, what is it supposed to indicate?
The green light is in the position on the oil gauge, as shown above.

I'll check to see if there are any fault codes. I have a LWFW and a chip. It may have to do with low idle speed, which would fit that scenario. Thanks everyone. I'll let you know when I find out.

Perhaps it's a wiring mistake at that gauge and you're seeing the wrong light? PDAS was only in all wheel drive 964s.

As mentioned in the earlier thread, perhaps your check engine light should be coming on instead (it's in the same location as the PDAS light)

My 95 has the optional ABD. All 993 C4's came with ABD standard as well.

I think I may have solved my mystery. A previous owner had the gauge face altered to include temperatures on the left. I'm guessing that the (well known) speedometer rebuilder exchanged the original faceplate for a modified one that had the ABD green window where the Check Engine window should be. I don't have 4wd, so I should not have that green window.

Thanks for the insights, everyone.

As an aside, the light has not come on again. It was probably due to slightly low idle in the '95 with LWFW in a warm motor.

Mystery solved. Nice job.

That is a funny looking "custom" oil gauge. I wonder why the PO wanted that modification?

Stock appearance except actual temps are shown rather than meaningless hashmarks. I welcome the info. He turned the gauges to see the values better while on the track, like the tach. I've straightened them because I'm not tracking the car.
