Ive wondered how cars like this could possibly not be suffering from dry rot or non-usage type issues.

They do....I would expect seals / belts and any other "wear" items to be in need of replacement.

It's a lot of money, but in context to a GT2 which was almost the same price when new, a used GT2 with actual mileage would be double that price.

Just shows the effect of motorsport heritage on a cars perception.

No. There's far less 993 GT2's than 993TTS's.

I once bought a low mileage vehicle (less than 10K miles) when it was 14 years old. I drove it till the 25th year all on the original seals; none of which leaked.

I'd be far more worried about internal corrosion depending on how it was stored and where.

How could someone sell a car like that but write an ad appearing as though they didn't graduate the 5th grade...

Back to the engine drop thread for me...

looking for a road worthy TT....guess I'll have to rule this one out....it looks like it does indeed have paint....I'd accept something that had some paint any ware, hell, I'd even take something that had paint every ware.

I am aware of the numbers,,,,,I was pointing out that, as an investment when new the 993 TTS and the GT2 Evo road version were almost the same price to purchase.

As an investment, which this car clearly was/is it has not performed quite so well.

Maybe it's the fact that GT2 wasn't available in the US?

But to my perception motorsport heritage adds value over and above run out model special editions.

Educated and rich do not necessarily go together.

Just like when I used to flight instruct. PhD and great pilot could not be used in the same sentence. My best student worked in a bar...man could that guy fly.

If you're gonna buy a car strictly for investment purposes, why would you buy one in such a polarizing color?

Then again, I guess it makes sure you'll never be tempted to drive it
