Just got back from Thunderhill :)
Hi all,
We just got back from Thunderhill (Todd's Tracquest event) and as always, we had tons of fun there. The weather turned out to be really nice (except of the wind which was too cold for me
) and we had a lot of track times.
Thanx to DJ, Steve Taty, Todd, Kevin and others who taught me a lot
Here are some pictures that I took during the event:

Pin, looks like it was a great time - I've heard that all Todd's events are. Thanks for posting the links to pics - they're great!
Myself and a few others had a less glamorous "car event", but still fun. We watched Jeff change the oil on his 993TT - more involved than I thought. I learned lot, well worth the 250 mile round trip drive (o.k., it was sort of an EXCUSE to drive the p-car - took Hwy 84 over to 1 south - awesome day!)

Thanks for the pix, Suwipin. I had a great time too. That's my Sports Toyota in the picture, with me standing there while I watched Rick Heer work on the car. Once we had all four cylinders running, it was a blast. I'll run my 993 in the POC stuff in SoCal and the Sports Toyota in SCCA in NorCal this year. TracQuest is a great group and I look forward to seeing everyone at the track again.
Thanks for sharing the pictures. I noticed what seemed to be a 2.7 Carrera RS behind the 993 in the picture "red 993". Would you know if it was a replica or the real thing? Thought they were pretty rare in the States...
I'm not sure about the car's authenticity, since I didn't talk to the owner, but it had the RS graphics and looked great!
Also, on Friday there was a 993 RS Clubsport (or a replica thereof). It was in speed yellow (or a close relative). Again, I didn't speak to the owner but it was a great looking car, perhaps the ultimate 993.
I wish I would have gotten around the paddock a little more to meet more people and see more cars. Unfortunately, I had my hands full between sessions more often than not.

Jason,
Is it true the real reason you left Chicago was to be able to DE year round
nice looking Toyota, does the race car make the 993 kind of boring? Since your going to be bored at DE's you will probaly want to take your Supercups off and send them back to Chicago! Good luck with SCCA

Hi Jason,
Did you see the white RS and the yellow 993 RS on the track? They were really fast and they were always keeping up with each other, it was really fun to watch them on the track

Hey Pin,
Was that your first track day in the 4S?
I just got back from the track myself. I went back to Sebring again this weekend. It was the PCA 48 hrs at Sebring.
So, I've had my car 3 1/2 weeks and I've already done 6 track days. 3 days at Winterfest with PBOC Florida, and 3 days with PCA Gold Coast.
I still have the temp tags on the car!!!
I think I have put more mileage on my car at Sebring than I have on the street. The event was a blast, so many beautiful cars...(lots of carnage in the race groups though) Seemed like every session (non DE) someone was dropping oil and wrecking..
Saw a speed yellow Carrera 2 do a big spin in front of me.. Pucker Factor in full effect...
no damage..just a little off road action..
(not me, the speed yellow.) Although I did toss my tank once but that doesn't count, I recovered quickly, kept my car pointed where I wanted to go and was back on the throttle real quick.
Shot some more great video and hopefully will post it in a day or two. I watched some of my tape tonight and was timing my laps. I got two real hot laps without traffic and I was totally amazed. The laps were consecutive and I turned the exact same time on both laps down to the 1/10 of a second. Both laps I turned exactly 2.40.22. I couldn't believe it. The exact same time two hot laps in a row.. Every other lap over 3 days I either hit traffic or wasn't hot yet. I shaved off 5 seconds from my fastest lap last week. I was running about 2.45 last week hot no traffic.
Man I love the track!!!!!!

Hi Seth,
It was my second track event with the C4S
My first track event with the C4S was at Buttonwillow, CA.
I'm happy that you had a good time at Sebring.
My next track event will be at Laguna Seca in April and I'm looking forward to that.
In the meantime, I gotta get back to work in order to pay the bill
Have a great week Seth

Thanx for the input Seth, I really appreciate it.Actually on the 2nd day, one of my instructors, asked me to go by myself as he told me that I was ready for it and that I should... so I did. I was a bit nervous on my first lap by myself so I took it easy but I gained confidence lap after laps. I still have a lot to learn...
Now I really need to learn to heel and toe, otherwise DJ will yell at me again <img src="graemlins/c.gif" border="0" alt="[ouch]" /> (just kidding DJ
)
Your better off learning to do it in the street. The track is not the place to try to learn it..
Here's the trick that I learned. It's hard to heel n toe at low speeds and moderate braking.
If you really want to get good at it, find a quiet empty road and get on your car...
once you have built up some speed, stand on the brakes and throw your knee over to the right, that momentum will allow your foot to blip the throttle.
but again, you need good brake pressure to allow the difference in pedal height to match up for your blip.. It's much harder to do at 20 mph than it is at 65mph..
Hope this helps...
