immobilizer light was flashing!!
I just had the strangest thing happen. I started my car & began driving when I noticed my immobilizer light (the one that looks like a remote) was flashing!! At the next light I turned my car off the back on & the light was gone but I still don't know why it did that in the first place
That typically indicates that it was in the beginning stages of manual overide for the immobilizer. This is also the way you program spare remotes. (Just did a spare for my car a month ago) Look at Robin's site (p-car.com) and look-up remote programming. You should get all the information you need there.
I'd like to resurrect this topic. This exact same thing happened to me after filling up at the gas station. Started the engine and noticed the immobilizer light flashing. I agree with Marshall that this typically denotes that the reprogramming stage has been initiated, but that couldn't have occurred. That process involves steps that were never performed...and wouldn't while filling my gas tank!
The most ironic part is that I've been trying for over a year to program 2 more key remotes with no success. I've talked with several list members and received top-notch instruction, but never could get the sequence to mesh. I guess the magic ingredient is to try it at the local BP station!
Anyone else seen this issue? I'm only concerned that this might point to an impending immobilizer malfunction/failure.

I have had this happen a few times with my '95. To clear the warning, I typically turn it off, lock and unlock the car via the remote and start it up again.
The first time it happened to me I read the owner's manual over and replaced the batteries in the remotes.
