Six years after my front bumper re-spray, the adhesive I used to secure the rubber bumper seal gave out. Since I was re-spraying the clear coat on my calipers and already had the car on jack stands, I decided to reattach the seal.
I had read here that it was possible to use 1/4" staples and apply them one by one with square nosed pliers (Not sure who it was that made the original suggestion). I decided to see if my 35 year-old insulation stapler would work and was pleased to find that it turned what could have potentially been an hour-long cuss fest into a ten minute piece of cake.
I used the old staple holes as a guide and even though it was the original seal and had some shrinkage, it lined up pretty well. Being able to hold the stapler with one hand while positioning the seal with the other made the job much easier.
Nothing amazing here, but it might be useful to someone.
Very useful. I need to do this to mine. PO had a nice paint job done on the bumper a few years ago. They installed a new seal, but didn't use staples. It's starting to pull out in spots.
Good to know you can can remove the bumper cover and reuse the seal that's there.

Reusing a seal that old and used up isn't something I'd normally do, but as you can see in the photos, I have a decision to make about a front clip re-spray. I didn't want to buy a new seal, staple it in, then have to buy another down the road. Using the old seal is admittedly a stop-gap approach until I decide what to do about the paint, which is in 20/10 condition right now.
