I'm embarrassed to ask, but is there anything special i need to know to replace front wipers/blades on a 95 993?
Does it matter where ordered?
Have to be Porsche?
Local Auto Parts store a bad idea?
Thanks

If it's the whole wiper, I doubt that the local parts store has the one where the left side has the parking bumper rubber stop.

If possible, keep your original blades and just replace the rubber wiper inserts. Go to your local VW or Audi dealer and by a set of part number 200 955 522. These are 22” inserts that you trim to proper length (instructions are included). They are 100% synthetic rubber and will last a long time. Good luck. <img src="graemlins/wave.gif" border="0" alt="[byebye]" />

As I recall, the sizes are: 18" and 15" lengths. The choices are:
1. Replace just the rubber insert.
2. Replace the wiper assembly incl insert.
I replace the assembly every few years & inserts as needs. You can use oem Bosch or aftermarket, although I've stuck w/Bosch for my P-car.
Bosch replacements in the 18" are available at most auto stores (Autozone. etc.). The 15" size is harder to find, but is usually stocked by foreign car parts stores & mail order/online sources like Tweeks, Performance Products, etc.
The small rubber bumper that keeps the blades apart at park fits the Bosch replacement assembly, is removable & should be moved to the replacement unit.

I've been going to Wally-Mart or equivalent and picking up Lexor blade inserts. They replace just the rubber inserts as do the Audi/VW blades for about $4 a pair as I remember. Might not last as long but at least I can get to Wally-Mart when it's convenient to me (hard to hit the dealers during my working hours).
The insert replacement takes some hand coordination, since you have to kind of hold two spring steel edges along the blade insert sides while you to insert the steel edge/blade unit into the frames. Be prepared to slightly pry apart the metal fingers in the frame holding the existing inserts in place.
