OEM or Textar from FD. I went with Textar from FD recently and have been happy.

Define light track use. Cuz sometimes those are the heaviest users of brakes..........

I've not personally ever come up with an acceptable dual purpose pad. Stick with 100% stock from the dealer in the Porsche box on the street cars.

Ferrodo DS 2500 for a "dual purpose" car in the front and Textar in the rear. Drive this conbination for a couple of years and are very happy.

Yes, I have begun to learn the brakes just slow you down...

PRSWILL,
+1 on Ken's pad recommendation. If for nothing more than the no squeal factor. I use them for the exact type of stuff you mention...a few DEs, monthly AX, and some daily driving. In those performance driving situations, the limiting factor has never been brakes..... (more like driver skill, or lack of...)

This.

Pop-in tracks pads for the track, and stay with stock Porsche pads for the street. Their street pads are more than good enough for any type of street duty, plus, they'll minimize dust.

I went with the Textar pads. AutoCross and the VERY occasional DE event are what I am talking about track-wise. 99.95 % of the driving is on the street.

I run textar on the street and RS-19 on the track. The squeal awful but they stop amazing! I may try a PFC pad for the track next time since I have been lazy about swapping back to the textars when I get home from the track.

Oem. 180 bux for front set from sunset. In big reds they are more than adequate and will last through occasional DEs.

As others have said, there's no such thing as dual-purpose pads. Stock for street, 30 minute swap to race pads for track. On my 997 I tried every known combination of pads including 4/2/1, Orange, Blue, Black, Yellow, Purple, whatever. The 997 liked the Yellows / Blacks combo for a little better bite / bias. Everyone I've known (including me) that tried to use anything but street pads on the street regretted it and likewise using street pads on the track...

Get used to the 30 minute process of changing pads before / after an event.

I am getting the message loud and clear- going with the OEM pad for the street and will get a set for the track. Don't know why this was even a thought - I have a set of track rims and tires- just switch the pads then too! Fun car!!
