Air conditioner cleaners - recommendations?
I desperately need to clean the A/C vent/evaporator system in my car. I'd like to try a DIY product like '1Z Einszett Klima-Cleaner Air Conditioner Treatment'. Has anyone tried something that gave superior results that they would recommend? I realize this is not 993 specific, but it is for my 993.

If the AC has a bad smell, you may need to change the cabin air filters. While you have them out, you can shine a flashlight around in the evaporator box to see if there is anything in there that needs to be cleaned out. If there is an accumulation of debris in the bottom of the box, you can swab it out.
This is also a good time to take a close look at the evaporator, to see if any dirt is sticking to it, which may be a sign of leakage--the AC oil can make dirt stick at the leak site.
I don't have confidence in a spray cleaner doing much, other than masking the smell.
