Just how many 993 speedster conversions out there?

For a quick-and-dirty close approximation (I think) just check out the early corvettes. I remember banging the rear cover release with my elbow, reaching back to grab the front of the top, pulling it forward, engaging the front latches, pulling the back of the top forward, closing the rear lid and engaging the back latches without getting out of the driver's seat. Of course I don't have a Speedster to compare, but have thought the Corvette latch was pretty cool.

Whoa! I was not expecting that at all. You've now opened up a pandora's box of questions from me... What happened to the original cowl? Why was it replaced with an older one and how? Obviously the lack of an attached A-pillar makes replacing it easier than on a coupe, but it still couldn't have been trivial. Is the speedster windscreen's frame super robust to make up for the lack of the A pillars?

Mike-- Agreed: 'enquiring minds want to know'
Of all the interesting Porsches I've ever seen, none was a 993 retrofitted with an older cowl. Surprising.
Another surprise is that the WP0CA2991WS340424 plate's more likely Arena Red Metallic.
Depends who you ask. I wouldn't trust it implicitly, which is why I started this roll-bar thread.
However, a Chicago 964 Speedster owner told me his friend's daughter rolled a 964 Speedster: it continued to skid down the street, supported on its windshield & OEM Recaro bucket seats. Neither collapsed.

Marc-André-- From what looks like your thread on Pelican Parts Forum it appears you've added a Targa. Congratulations.
...Pelican also shows an updated signature block stating your Speedster has moved on.
^^ Maybe it's now basking topless with its new owner in a more conducive climate.
Have fun with your Targa & C2S; it was fun reading your enthusiasm when you found this Speedster

Hi curve lover,
I did move the Speedster and made place for a longhood project currently in restoration as I was bitten by the SWB & LWB cars again. There something about driving a light longhood on a twisty road and the kick I get out of it vs the same road with the C2S. I have to drive the C2S way faster to get the same kick.
