The prices for 993's and 964's are beyond silly nowdays. What is so special about a Turbo S really? The sad part is that these cars will now be spending time in collections and treated like stock instead of been driven like they meant to be.
I truly think that this is a bubble and its going to burst. Some people will end up loosing their shirt, but the reality is that 997's are not 996's and the turbo models IMO are a better value. They are becoming very approachable and eventually this silliness will stop as they will compress the market place with 991's coming off leases etc. There are several examples of low mile 997 Turbos that are priced in the 60's. If anyone wants to do a straight swap for a 997 Turbo with my 993 I'm here

While I'd like to free up space in liquidating the '95 shell/roller, Leaving the 4S parked on jackstands in the backyard with a cover thrown over it isn't costing me any money.

Not really, an S adds most of the unique RS suspension bits inc. strut reinforcements, some functional engine / cooling upgrades, & those nifty fender inlets. There's a tech book floating around the web somewhere that explains the details. Not sure it was worth the 50% premium when new but not a poseur special (like a C2/4S ) either.

'Only reason to buy one is to collect.'
well...there is another reason to buy.
that reason being to speculate and sell to the collector
collectors i know with disposable capital usually more interested in getting it 'now' once the decision is made they want to add to a collection.
not as worried about paying a premium to get it.
while the slope of appreciation may flatten....imo these are not tulip bulbs.
there is a finite supply.

the extra oil cooler is useless for anything but track work, and at that point, there are better options (not that many turbo S are being tracked).
ECU upgrade...I have it, those 24 hp are hard to feel.
Strut reinforcements? Guess i missed the memo on that.
I'm not sure what all RS suspension pieces they have, but I didn't think it was the full boat. Still, with the stock shocks/springs, its kind of a waste.

320k...:-)
trying to figure out what the 'new' turbo price formula
use to be 100k - mileage...
always left me with negative equity
looks like getting closer to 200k - mileage
damn...still negative...:-)
i figure in 20 years when ready to sell...no one will give a **** if it has 500k miles

goof...it looks like some peeps r paying them. I forever regret that I didn't buy the 97 turbo that was sitting FS next to my C2S for 18k more.... And it was polar silver ..

Yes, there may have been one or two that have sold at these new stratospheric prices. Maybe.
All I know is it's very easy to set a car with a ridiculous asking price. Actually selling it for that price? That's another story
