Ok - I have been detailing the car. Ready to install the hood ornament. Except...
My issue - the nuts don't seem to do anything with the smooth style posts. My old hood ornament had threads, and it was screwed on. I can't seem to get the new bolts to catch. Anyone done this - any hints?
I assume you mean they are a simple "push" on friction fit type fastener. Wrong size nut maybe...take the badge to one of the big box stores and check for smaller friction fit type automotive nuts in those bins.
There was a bit too much of the clay on the nuts. Once I smoothed it out, I was able to get the nuts to grab. I poked a hole from the top with a piece of wire. I think the clay was too thick, and the hole wasn't aligned with the top of the nut, so turning it never got it to bite.
My car is fully detailed and has a hood ornament. Happy now.
Wow....Just this afternoon I'm thinking, "H-m-m-m-m-m...Everybody on RL seems to be in a good mood today."
Then these two pissy comments pop up...Really guys? Get a damn grip.
Yours is the second pissy comment then-you get a grip. I was simply stating what the piece is called. I didn't insult anyone, their family or call anyone names, and didn't post it as negative. You turned it negative.
Nothing wrong with stating something that a relatively new person may not know, when it comes to "lingo".
