Default shipping vs driving

I think I have convinced my wife to go let me get my
car in New haven Conn. I am going to fly
from Boise Idaho, to NYC. Boise is where
we will be on vacation at my inlaws.
Ticket to NYC from Boise $100
(brother works for delta)
gas and eats back to Boise what?- $300
Hotel in two cities $130
Driving my TT and missing 3 more days with
my inlaws=
PRICELESS!

any body live along I84 were I can
sleep on their lawn??

OG,

Take your oldest son with you (Ryan?). He will appreciate the break from the family, and it will be some very special time for you two. Bring a camera, and take pictures of the stuff you see along the way. Naturally, a few of the TT won't hurt. The savings from the shipping == ECU program. Time with your TT and your son; priceless.

Don't miss this opportunity.

OG, i'd drive it back. I drove from Colorado to California and loved it.

Driving throught the salt flats was an incredible experience. Great way to bond with your car.

OG,

That sounds like a great plan. Enjoy your drive back. You'll have to stop by an internet cafe and keep us posted!

I flew from Chicago to Baltimore, got in around 11:00 PM. Looked at the car and then purchased it. Drove with my brother 10 hours straight. It was a great experience and I got a chance to really get to know the 993. If I had to do it all over again I would. Good Luck in your journey! Drive safe!

I'm with Todd. Speed limit? Why torture yourself when a press of the right foot can bring freedom? Invincibility! Immortality!

Want more freedom? Buy a V1.

Congratulations!

When I first started looking for Porsches, I was on eBay all the time. My son asked how we would get a car from, say, Florida back to Los Angeles. I explained about guys and road trips. He was really excited, because he had just gotten his learner's permit. He was very disappointed when I actually bought the TT in nearby Newport Beach. "What about our road trip?" he asked. I said "We're doing one anyway". We did a three-day, 2 night trip to Lake Powell and the Grand Canyon (photographed the sunrise in the canyon), cruised up route 66, saw Antelope Canyon, Horseshoe Bend, and all sorts of neat stuff. No plans, no reservations, no destination; just a JOURNEY. He got to drive about half the time. 1600 miles. Way too short. So we're heading up to Klamath Falls in a couple of weeks. Our excuse is to pick up a didgerydoo, but who are we kidding... any excuse for a road trip. The best pictures of our Arizona adventure (beautiful country, BTW) are 8x12 enlargements, framed in his room.

I'm so glad my son and I are able to have this time together.

OG,
Bought mine in LA and drove it up the coast to Seattle Thanksgiving weekend. It was an awesome trip that I did with a buddy of mine. I would not do it any other way.

This last Thursday my 11 year old and I drove a 25ft Penske Rental truck )diesel) from Seattle to Las Vegas with the Porsche on an open trailer behind us. We drove through 3 rain storms in the middle of Nevada and the car got trashed. I have never seen it close to that dirty before.

After unloading it off the trailer on Saturday I drove it by Gaudin Porsche (we are renting close by while our house is being completed) to ask were they would recomend I go to clean it up. They took the car, spent an hour on it and didn't charge me. No damage done to the car!
I guess that was my welcome to Las Vegas.

Pete

PS. The 11 year old was great to have along for the company and to keep me awake.

OG, what an awsome trip. Don't forget your spare DME relay, your spare alternator belt and your spare immobilizery battery and have a great trip!

OG,

I think 1800 miles in 27 hours over two days from upstate NY to Houston qualifies as a cross country. That's what I did when I bought mine last month. It was a blast! My little C2 NA just cruised all day at about 90 -- absolutely loafing at around 3200 rpm and begging for more. I wouldn't do it without the V1 I borrowed, especially when I caught up with all the Vettes going to Nashville for the 50th anniv. weekend. Other than just about getting sucked into the tailpipes of a Z06, it was a great experience. Enjoy!

Old Guy - this will be a great trip. Time for bonding with your son and the new tt. Long before you arrive you will find you and the tt are soul mates. Sure it's a long way - but the excitement will outstrip any boredom you might think will set in. You will never for get this drive!!! Be sure to take your camera.
