Default 993 tt and TT 'S' apprecaition

I know that I am asking you all to peer through a
crystal ball but if you all had to guess, do you think that
the 993 tt or TTS will at some point appreciate. The reason
I ask is that as I am now an expert in the world of high finance,
(I just got my first home equity line of credit) I realized I am
only 20-30K away from a TT'S' model. And before I get kicked out
of the house by asking the wife, I thought I would ask the experts
here, what the chances are that these two cars would become
collector cars and may hold their value or even appreciate.

As a secondary question how many of you in the southern california
area have spare rooms for other Rennlisters who may have, by
no fault of their own, been removed from their primary residence.
say after a small disagreement with their present and soon to be ex wife,
over Porsches?
(this has not happened to me but is a hypothetical situation)

Oldguy,

Personally, I am hopeful that the depressed state of the TT will soon be rectified, once people realize that they really present littleadditional maintenance over a NA 993, and offer a ton more performance. The TTS, on the other hand, will always be sought after by collectors, but they will want the garage queens. So if you're gonna drive the thing, get the TT.

Let me put it in engineering terms for a rocket scientist:

(extra appreciation of TTS) - (cost of a divorce) = (you get to drive a Geo)

Aside from the fancy carbon fiber strut brace, and the "swoopy" (but utterly non-functional) side scoops, I don't understand what makes the TT S so appealing as opposed to a well optioned "plain vanilla" TT. Yeah, I know the S has special emblems all over the place, but to me it's kinda like putting stickers on a car and expecting it to go faster; there is virtually no performance difference between the two that I'm aware of. (Yeah, the ECU has a small helping of more ponies, but once you've tweaked your stock TT with new programming, you're in the same zipcode or better)

I totally understand the "S" premium on the non-turbo cars, since I'm one of those that swoons over the wide hips, but on the difference between the TT and the TT-S, I just don't get it. I'll pay a premium for something tangible, but not simply because it's exclusive.

I subscribe to Warren Buffett's philosophy of "invest in what you know", so I have no plans to pay a whopping premium for a TT-S...

Just my .02 cents.

Well Steve while I was waiting for your repsonses on this drug
induced idea (I am on muscle relaxers becasue of a back injury this week
motocross, need I say more) My wife called my office. I broached the idea
with her. The conversation went like this:

ME: "Dear what do you think about using an extra 30k for a Twin Turbo S
that has a chance to appreciate in value?"

HER:" Let me get this straight-you talked me into a 70K car and now you
want to go another 30 FREAKING thousand dolllars!! you cant even park
my FREAKIN lexus in the garage with out dinging the GOD DANG door,
you freaking MORON! This would have to be a GODDANG Garage QUEEN!
I cant EVEN believe you brought this up, exactly how many FREAKING life
times do you expect to use to pay this GODDANG car off!! You shoulndt
even think that way since your not gonna live to the end of this lifetime
YOU FREAKING IDIOT!" CLICK!!

I thought she accepted it rather well dont you?
Oh well it was just a thought.

At the very least, sounds like she is considering it. Nothing a $4MM dollar diamond won't fix.

Life is not a rehearsal" I say sell the wife and get the TTS, then sell her Lexus so you can park the TTS along side the TT. It's only money...
