rather than clutter up that gentlemans FS thread, I thought I would put my comments here. In a world seemingly without pricing controls on it...regarding air cooled Pcars, along comes another very clean example, listed well under what the current market would allow.
In a nutshell, a 53K mile car, appears pristine, two wheelsets(Carrera ll's, and stockers), TWO gearbox's G64/21 in the car, and stock G64/20, lots of RS parts, updated suspension, etc,etc,etc...ALL for $59.9K.
That extra gearbox would be worth $5-7K by itself wouldn't it?
I'm thinking this guy left $10K on the table, if not $15K. Hopefully, another rennlister scooped it up fast.
completely agree....I was offered $50K for my '98 with almost 100K miles on it with just one set of wheels and one gearbox....mind you, that was in a trade in on a new car...and no...i'm not telling which one until i actually get it
Non 993 owners and people not shopping for a 993 think its under priced.
993 Owners and people in the market for one, have a better idea of the market for the most part.
53K miles is relatively lowish, a dealer would be selling this car for 70 to 75K all day long.
Dunno...I sold my 98 C4S last year for $60k and it had 53,000 miles with coilovers and aftermarket wheels.
Seems right on...
I don't believe this guy is leaving money on the table and no way is it a $70k car. I feel 993 prices on Rennlist are what's helping to escalate the perceived 993 price appreciation. Its present owners throwing lots of value onto their prized possessions when I know of other Rennlisters who have bought widebody cars (not listed on Rennlist) for a lot less than the perceived values. Why? Because on dealer lots or with sellers not on Rennlist they tend to have a more realistic value of what these cars sell for on Autotrader, Cars.com.
^^ 100% agreed. You nailed it on the head in another response Cam. Asking price means squat give me the actual agreed on price detail then we can start plotting realistic values. These cars do not sell at the asking price ever IMHO especially after they undergo the all important PPI and "needs" evaluations.....
Put down the Molson's and crack pipe you Robfordians...I mean Torontonians....in $CDN funds and taxes you pay up there it's a $100K car for sure 'eh?
P.S. Cam...I was just up in QWEEBEK and ONTAYRIO and they don't have pennies anymore....so that would either be your .00 cents or .05 cents (depending on which Tim Hortons you go to).
There are a lot of Canadians posting in here. The penny was costing more than a penny to make and administer !
Just for kicks here is how much it would cost a BC Canada resident to buy this car and have it ready to get it registered and insured (not including any repairs).
$60000 USD = approx $66000 CDN
5% GST = $3300
7% PST = $4620
6.1% duty = $4026
RIV fee = $200
Air conditioning fee = $100
Shipping cost = $1500
Out of province inspection = $150

Don't forget luxury tax, I believe anything above $50K mark or somewhere in that area.
Luxury tax? Ouch. More than that lousy exchange rate and taxes I was astounded at the price of fuel up there (but pleasantly surprised to find 94 octane at PetroCan)
