Porsche labor times range widely - what's your experience?

You are right though, there are many incompetant shops and Dealers and several who are not very honest and feel the need to charge whatever they want. This tars everyone in this business with the same brush and creates cynics out of everyone who walks through the door.

Thank heavens that we are not engaged in the repair and maintenance end of this business, only the racing and street high-performance part,..

My mechanic charges $50/hour, if I watch it goes to $75/hour, if I help then it is $100/hour. Cash only. He only has about two or three street/track car customers though. Rest of the work is for race transmissions.

How odd, I would have though that the scale would go the other way!

You have obviously never graced my presence while working on a car, have you? One thing for sure, my mechanic always gets a good laugh out of my two left hands and ability to ALWAYS find the hard way to get a job done.
