To each his own. I happen to think its a great looking wheel and really ties together an aluminum shift/ebrake/guages.

I have the aluminum shift ****/handbrake combo in my '97. I can tell you that they get HOT in the summer. I can't imagine trying to drive a car with an aluminum steering wheel after it's been sitting in a sunny parking lot for a few hours. I'd have to wear my Nomex gloves!

There is leather at 10 and 2 so it's not really an issue.

Are the aluminum portions actually aluminum or plastic bits painted to be alumi-look like so much of the 9X6 interiors are?

RS shift ***** for the 993 are plastic but aluminum in the 996.

It's not really aluminum. That's just what Porsche calls it (and charges like it is too).

My 993 actually has one of the 996 aluminum shifter ***** in it. I like the feel of it quite a bit, even if it isn't stock. I will need to re-dye the leather on the **** though. It clearly was black before and it is showing through.
