993 steering
Apparently many older German cars have had this "feature" in the past. I remember my first car, Golf GTI (1978) and my uncle's VW bug (1969) had this as well. Many modern (VWAG) cars have shifted steering column to the right.

Maybe because the seat isn't in the center of the car? If the steering wheel was in line with the center of the drivers seat you'd be looking to the right on the straightaways.
Is it offset to the left on RHD cars?
Is it offset to the left on RHD cars?
Not sure if the 993 is the same, but the right hand drive 964 has the pedal box severely offset to the left in the footwell, and that was way more noticeable than any steering wheel offset.
