Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeet!
Someone's going to get a nicely put together car.
Good luck with the process.
May you have very few tire kickers or morons grace your path.

Fred,
Looks good to me. I think the GT3 is the only 996 I would trade my 993 for. Good luck.

Unless I missed it, do you have a link to any pics?
I LOVE to see pics of really nice cars for sale. I then daydream about owning them from time to time. OR, taking $15k out of a secret account my wife doesn't know about and getting a year newer car with litronics and those luscious sport seats, AND 30k less miles!

Alternatively, I never know when I'm goin to run into someone who's in the market for one just like yours.

Cheers,
Steve

Pics - I've got pics and can send them on request. I just haven't had the time to reduce them in size, or find a suitable place to post them to go with the listing. I'm not as computer literate as I need to be.

Sounds like a fair price for your car, but...

I brought my 993 to the dealer today for the wiring harness recall, and parked right next to a brand new GT3. It's the only 996 that I find tempting. Yet, looking at the two cars side by side, I just like my 993 better. Granted, I haven't driven a GT3 ( and I know it's supposed to be wonderful), but it just doesn't make me lust after it the way 993s do. No doubt the performance is superb, but the whole package (and not just the aesthetics) still doesn't quite do it for me.

A thought: I don't know how long you generally keep your cars, but you've owned your 993 for 6 years. IF that is unusual, it says alot (if it's not, then nevermind). Would the GT3 be as satisfying long-term? If you think so, then perhaps you have your answer. If you don't think so, then I think you definitely have your answer.

Pete,

Thanks for the lead on photo resizing. I'll give it a go tonight.

Speedraser,

This is by no means a final decision. I question if a GT3 is going to put THAT much bigger grin on my face. Quite frankly, with the mods I've done, I've got the car just the way I want it. You can't imagine what the changes to flywheel and gearing do for the 993. It is literally transformed.

To me the 993 is the finest example of classic 911 lines. The sensual curves, the attention to detail. I wish the GT3 was based upon the C4S or TT body work. I might also miss the sunroof. But the GT3 has more power and a close ratio box like my C4S. I do wonder if it rides too rough for a semi-daily driver.

I've kept my C4S this long because nothing that has come since has stirred my soul one bit. My license plate is LAST 911. To me, the 993 is the last of the REAL 911's. It's was once said that EVERY 911 that ever left the factory was a racecar. I think the GT3 qualifies as well. I can't say the same for the 996. Maybe I should have ponied up the extra $30K and bought a TT when I ordered the C4S. At that time, I just couldn't see putting that much in a car.

My C4S will never be worth more than it is today. If I can find a good home for it, I'll upgrade to the GT3. If not, I'll just keep enjoying one of the nicest performing 993's in the US.

Cheers,

I almost forgot 2 important items:

1. The car has just turned 34,000 miles.
2. I'm located in Morton, Illinois - midway between Chicago and St. Louis.

I had a GT3 on order, when it came time for the particulars to be placed with my dealer, I decided not to buy the GT3. I just couldn't bring myself to sell my 993 (which I've owned since new). I guess I decided that there are not going to be anymore air cooled Porsche's that I can buy new--ever again. On the ohter hand, the GT3 will continue to improve through later generations (ie 997 GT3).

before I got my budget increased I was working with Fred about
his car. Extremely knowledgeable and very easy to work with.
Knows his car to the last detail off the top of his head with the
records to prove it. Very turthful and upfront and takes alot
of the burden off the buyer. I saw the pics absolutely
beautiful car.
