Default Does SAI issues affect my car?

Hi List,
My car is a 1995 993 with a build date of 5/94. I have the OBD1 diagnostics and don't have a problem with SAI as of yet. Is my car subject to this issue? What measures can be taken to reduce the risk of this problem? My car has 18 Thousand miles so as I have heard it was a Garage Queen for the beginning of it's life. Will this have any negative effects as far as carbon build up? I now enjoy getting out there and jumping on it a bit. Is this a good thing as far as carbon goes?

TIA Jack

It's possible that SAI is clogged but no CEL on 95s. Just drive and enjoy.

Clogged SAI doesn't not affect performance, only ability to pass smog if you are in one THOSE states.

Your car has the hardware, not the software
Your valve guides will wear over time and oil will get into your cylinders--the amount in minute and shouldn't ever cause a problem Other areas on your motor will leak a lot more (sorry)

Just drive it hard and enjoy the car. There are plenty of other things to worry about than SAI.

Are you saying that in some states '95 won't pass with clogged SAI?

Hey Jack,

Wow, only 18k miles! And I thought my 44K was low! I believe that not lugging the engine and running it up to redline frequently (at least a few times per drive ) will help carbon from building up.

Ahh ..... a Hawley, PA 993 owner from nearby Lake Wallenpaupack, PA ! My family had a house on the lake during the 70s. A Sea Ray ski boat, high school girl friends .... fond memories.

Good luck with the coupe.

SAI is not monitored under OBD-I so its not a factor for smog compliance. For these cars, the only concern is what emerges from the exhaust pipes: CO, HC, NOX, and CO2 (in some places).

Valve guide wear & fitment is the only main issue on engine engines and thats common to ALL 3.6's. Just monitor your oil consumption.

This is why '95's are worth $100K (mine's for sale at that sum) in California.

Add a chip from Steve Weiner for a modest sum, and it's got an electronic V-ram.

I'm gonna kidnap Steve and put him in my frunk. If I ever have a problem I'll just summon my frunk monkey!

Actually I guess I already do that with my cell phone...

I've been called much worse in my time. Still, I'm happy to do this provided a good supply adequate refreshments in there.
