Default Need a good mechanic in WI

There is only so much I can do and then I need to pay to have a professional work on my 993. Just had to turn down my latest place to have the 993 repaired. So far, I've taken it to Mraaz and now Fabson. Both have not been truthful.

Is there anywhere in WI anyone can recommend?

Thumbs up

Personalized Auto Service in Kenosha. Ask for Greg.
I've known him for 20 years and he's a stand up guy. Used to work at LFSC in Lake Forest, IL until he opened his own place with his dad.

http://www.csmotorsports.net/

Came from another Porsche referral who uses them for service. I had them rebuild my bmw lsd with good results. I have not had to take my 993 in yet, but will take it there when the time comes.

cheers, Jason

You cannot beat likes of Kelly Moss Motorsports out of Madison. If you want it done right and by guys who service priceless machines (race and sport), look no further. I and the others that have work done there have no complaints. I'm fact, I know multiple Porsches that routinely make cross-State trips to work done there.

What is on that back wall will give you an idea of how they are.......

. Can you expand a bit more on your experience with Fabson? Somebody recommended them to me recently as well but I never visited them. I use Saul at Perfect Power just over the state border in buffalo Grove. He has been very good.

A friend of mine used to own a 95 GR cab and he used Reina International. I was always impressed with how reasonable their prices were. the only caution I would have would be alignments. don't remember if they have the kinematic toe tool. but for general maintenance my friend was very pleased and he is picky.

I have had good service thus far from Accumoto and Kelly Moss.

My car was under CPO so most of the work was done at Zimbrick Porsche. They are great for warranty work.

Two thumbs up: one for Chris Schuh (CS Motorsports) and one for Mark White at Accumoto. Both big in Club Racing, and both great guys.

I called Fabson to have all 4 rear CV boot covers replaced. I was quoted $250. I double checked on the call that he is quoting me for doing all 4. He's assured me the quote is correct. The next day I called him again to double check on the price quote because I mentioned the cost is very reasonable. Again, he assured me it's correct. I made an appointment to drop the car off. After arranging time off work and getting my wife to arrange time off work to follow me (about 1 hours drive away), I arrived at Fabson. Walk in to drop off my keys and explain I'm here for the repair and mentioned the price quote. He said that's for one side. If I wanted all 4 done, it would be more. I left and will never return.

Ble,

In all honesty, Kelly Moss will probably be your most "no-excuses" shop out there. I and countless others have worked with them on stuff ranging from lifter's to full engine/chassis rebuilds. Their reputation is beyond credible. On top of that, they've done some nice stuff with mine and other's 911's.

I'm sure others can expound on their two KM 993's that gave the RSR a run for its money.

Good luck and if you have any questions on who to speak with, you can PM me.

All the best mate.

+100 for Kelly Moss. Not to highjack anything, but I was the previous owner of KMR-RSR 001 and I had them repair and repaint the body in 2008. Their work was excellent, and the guys there are top notch. The body shop manager set me weekly progress updates, with photos....

When I bought my 993, I thought that Kelly Moss would be the place to go. I called about an alignment and they told me they no longer worked on street cars (focused on race cars only). I just thought that was for any repair work so I never thought about them again. I'm going to try CS Motorsports and see what their quote will be. They are very close to work, and I had some good conversations with Chris When I wanted the shocks replaced. If CS Motorsports doesn't work out, I'll call Kelly Moss again. I appreciate all the suggestions.

Yeah, Kelly Moss will have some (very minor) stipulations on stuff like what rims they'll balance what degree of alignment. I would always ask. There is a legitimate reason behind what they do.

I don't know of a shop in Wisconsin that has the likes of Level 5 and other goodies running through on a consecutive basis.

There is a reason........
