Default suspension nuts and bolts

Im going to be doing suspension overhaul- Koni FSDs with M033s, and Walrod bushings. when i brought it in to my shop, they pointed out that nearly every nut and bolt was thoroughly rusted and needed to be replaced, along with dust boots, bump stops and possibly all the mounts...the car is in great shape, 95k miles, no rust anywhere else, so i was a bit surprised- but i did expect it would need a few pieces of hardware to supplement the new kit. what i didnt expect was that the quote jumped from $2k in labor to nearly $6k, with all new parts included!
They printed out a spec sheet with parts listed, all ordered from germany.
ive been looking at paragon, vertex, and pelican for these parts, and the list is scattered....ecstuning sells a refresh kit for all corners that runs up to $6k alone...no thanks.
should i try a different shop, one that may be expected to have these bolts on hand?
does anyone else know a better place to source these parts individually or in a package?
Thanks to all the help....cant wait to get it riding proper.

If you have a copy of the spec'd list, why not send it to Sunset for a quote?

Once again I trust NO one. Have you looked under there and verified this yourself? Where was the car originally? Did it live in a bad environment that would cause that? Going from 2K to 6K because of new hardware???? Can you scan and post the list here so we can see what they're saying you need?

I agree with what has already been said. My car has similar mleage to yours and when I did my suspension last year I found no rusty hardware or anything torn or obviously needing replacement. I have no doubt that the front control arm bushings could stand to be changed but it sounds like the shop is trying to get you for an entire suspension rebuild. Would you mind giving the name of the shop? There is no shortage of quality Porsche shops in the Bay Area.

You would be hard pressed to find a daily-driven 993 on the east coast or most of the rest of the world that did not have corroded fasteners! It is certainly no reason to replace them unless they need to undo them for the shock and bushing installation. In fairness to the shop you should post the work-order and some photos of what needs to be replaced.

I received a suspension overhaul quote from a Bay Area Pcar shop that was a bit high for my liking too: ~$5000.

This was for a PSS10 setup, so more than half the cost was the strut kit. The estimate was without actually seeing my car on the lift and just based upon the mileage and my description. They suggested replacing both strut mounts as well. No mention of A-arm bushings or A-arms in the quote. Approximately 10 hours of labor all-in. (Including alignment/corner balancing). They did provide a separate quote for adjustable toe-links that would end up costing another $1500 (parts and labor).

I'm a little leery of "while we're in there" costs adding on top of this estimate. As it is, I don't have $5k sitting around begging to be spent so it is going to be a while for me. I very likely will be visiting Brentwood and taking my business directly to FD Motorsports instead.

Most if not all the suspension bolts changed spec over and post production. manual recommends replacing with later spec. I recently had full RS suspension fitted including PSS10s, my shop fitted all parts supplied by me and charged £2k including setup and new nuts and bolts. Your quote seems excessive.

Thanks for all the input on this guys...After researching I found a better alternative shop...I am actually in michigan now, I need to change my profile. I figured that these parts werent special order, which is what they were claiming, and they were in fact trying to do a full rebuild- which would be nice- but dont have the budget for that.

Not trying to hijack the thread but I have a stupid question I have to ask. Was considering Koni FSD w/M033 which I feel would be great. Bilsteins just a little more than I wanted to spend. Well today I realized the I have reward points from my companies recognition program that can be transitioned to Amazon dollars. So I went to Amazon site and noticed they have the Koni FSDs which will pretty much make them no charge.

or....

Since I was already commited to spending close to $1k for the set of FSDs should I use that money and the Amazon dollars to stretch into Bilsteins? If that makes more sense then here are the stupid questions.... Differences between PSS9 vs PSS10? and are there different versions of Bilstein B16 PSS10 or just one. Amazon has B16 PSS10 in description but no confirming part number.

Adjustment on PSS10 is suppose to be better (easier to turn and click sound) numbered opposite of PSS9 and 1 more setting. Same total range of adjustment though and spring rates.

If you search there was a problem in the past when ordering on Amazon. Might try FD Motorsports instead, many here buy parts from them (me included) and their prices are usually as good as anywhere else…and great people.

There are different versions for different cars but for yours just one:
