Default Radio Codes lockout, now what?

Hey Listers,

After owning my 993 for 5 years I had to disconnect the battery and now the radio needs the anti-theft codes to activate. The previous owner isn't have the code and now the question is how to get the numbers?

Are they also hidden in the spare wheel well somewhere like my former VW GTI had?

Don''t want to go to the dealer, I know they wiill charge me!

Kindest Regards for any other suggestion!!!

Bert

Use the "search" function for "radio code" and I think you'll find a few sources that can help.

go to renntech forum and search radio code lookup. You send along your radio type, model number and serial number and within a few hours a guy will post the radio code. I have used it several times, works great. Easier than spending $20 or more for some of the other sites out there. Good luck. Phil

Give me the serial number of the radio and I'll get you the code.

Any respectable dealer will not charge you to simply look up your radio code! Our dealership parts guy here looked up my door key code and cut three keys with the Porsche key cutter from blanks that I brought in to perfection NC. He also provided me with both radio and immobilizer codes if I didn't already have them.

Default where is the Serial # of the radio?

Hello,

I tried to "find" the serial # of the radio, CDR 210… do you have to "pull" the radio?

Thanks for your help!

Yes, pull the deck and it's listed on the right side. Ilko offered to give you the code, or you can call Becker directly and they'll give you the code.

Or if you don't want to pull the radio and it's original to the car, the dealer can give you the code based on the VIN#

No need to remove anything or call dealers. Press tone, then hold both the '0' & '8' buttons until the radio name appears. Then scroll to PR-VERSION using the tuning arrow. Now you should be able to retrieve the serial number by selecting the station preset numbers.

That works, but sliding out deck is almost as easy...provided you have the keys.

You slide out the deck, remove the cage, and the old and frayed sticker on the side tears apart. There goes your code

The real trick is to write down the code so this isn't a problem again.

I bought a used CDR-220 and the seller gave me the wrong code. I got the WAIT message... bummed. I called Becker (since I wanted to get the screen repaired and modded for the 993 drivers line of sight) and they gave me the code in 5 seconds after giving them the serial number. My screen wouldnt display anything correctly LOL. Nice dude at Becker fwiw...
