Default Leland West low ball Agreed upon value quote

95 C2, 42,000 miles on the odo. Wanted agreed upon value of $45,000. Underwriter would only go to $40,000. When asked if the car had any mods,I stated "NO". should I have disclosed the PSS10s, RS sways, and tarett links to get to the $45,000 value I believe it's worth?

The would only write my 27K 1997 C4S for $59K about 2 months ago.

The cited "sold" prices vs. advertised.

I would be that I could sell this car for $ $70K with no problem.

I just got my 96c2 with 75k miles on agreed value policy ($45,000) with Leland.

However, the policy is basically reading that I can't drive the freaking car!... So I may look at some options

Important words when dealing with any type of insurance policy. Insurance companies don't deal based upon beliefs.

Guys clarify?

I Have an endorsement that allows 2 commute days to work and pleasure driving.

What restrictions do you cite?

They seemed to be better than Hagerty and Grundy.

I thought I did as well...
Just got the docs in the mail the other day and the cover page states "Occasional Pleasure Use, Item 1.a.(3). "To or from work;" is deleted.

No errand running, etc... The car truly is an occasional use vehicle, but with 3 small girls and a busy work schedule, sometime occasional use would be taking the car to the bank or running an errand.

I'm kind of scratching my head on what to ultimately do insurance wise. Under a normal policy I'd be at a big lose if the car was totaled. Insurance company would value the car way under what it would take to replace a very good condition mid mile 993... market is scarce, aircooled cars are crazy money in general, etc...

I believe most of us want to drive these cars with piece of mind that we are covered if a total lose occurred. Many of us have busy lives that only permit occasional use anyway.

I don't think you will be replacing the car for that amount

I think they are a joke! Get insurance that allow you to dive when and where ever you want. The value of your Porsche is the fair market at time of loss. If something should happen to your car that is being covered by them they will go into a " why are you driving your car and so on and so on " their are too many restriction for you to win if their is a claim or issue......

I have unrestricted use, and mileage with my policy. I had the local PCA chapter reccomend an appraisal company for an agreed value estimate to be submitted to my insurance company...that was 4 years ago.

No way an "agreed" value policy could keep up with the crazy rising values anyway...

Life is full of choices, and a game of chance too. While I couldn't replace my 99K+ mile, dirty carfax, lotto paintwork, 4S for what the insurance company would give me, it would be more than I have into it.

I priced all those "collector" car insurance companies when I first bought the car, expensive as hell, and waaay too restrictive. The company that has everything else I insure, also has the Pcar.

Good Luck

If you're a USAA member, it may be worthwhile to check with American Collectors. They provide agreed value policies with manageable restrictions on vehicle use.

I think many with agreed value policies are in a bind as a result of the run up in air cooled 911 prices.

If 993 prices stay firm, insurance companies will eventually catch up with market prices. But there will be a lag. That's what we're seeing now.

Because there are like three of us who have them with that "many" miles. At least I'm not getting the random "I'll go as high as $25K" emails anymore..........

Not like I'm concerned. It's parked in the backyard indefinitely, stripped of suspension.

I am happy with agreed value and can drive 3K miles / year which tracks with my current use over the past 7 years.
