Default Vehicle cross country shippment recommendation

I'll be moving to the bay area in June and need to get my 993 from Michigan to SF. I have a quote of $2k, but that seems a bit high. Do you guys have good experience with any car shipping services that you can recommend? Thanks in advance!

My minimum criteria were door to door, enclosed, no brokers, and pickup within a specific time frame. I ended up choosing Passport Transport and it was a great experience, I will definitely use them again. My other choice would have been Gran Turismo but they could not pickup within the specific time frame (seller was leaving for vacation).

I think that how you ship is as important as the carrier company. Ask for an inclosed trailer and do not use a carrier who ships from depot to depot. You want your car loaded in Mi and unloaded SF. You don't want the car loaded in Mi and delivered to a depot in Omoha where it sits and waits for the next truck headed west. Good luck

Bought my C4S last month and had it shipped from Atlanta to Scottsdale, AZ enclosed for $1200....if I waited a bit maybe could have negotiated? Thought I had a fair deal...

Thanks for the tip for what to look out for. I didn't think about it has to be door to door. It's probably hard to get below $1k then.

Question, do you guys tip the drivers when you receive the car?

Just wondering

I used Intercity to transport the 97. Flew in, drove home the 95. I'd drive the distance all over again.

I've successfully used Intercity and FedEx/Passport when timing has not been critical. Both shipped without issue.

Last shipping experience was on a super tight schedule for me with specific limited dates on both loading & unloading ends.
Through RAC Dallas (former RUF Dallas) I was referred to the perfect guy to contact!
Craig Jackson - 210-336-7937
His experience with high end cars is very apparent, and he was absolutely perfect with my car. He owns and uses the former RUF Dallas enclosed, 2 car trailer.

Feel free to tell him that I recommended him - I've referred several other Rennlisters to him, no idea their experiences though.

If you don't mind the miles why not drive?

I would seriously consider driving it if you have the time. There are many great things to see across the country. Having been in the military i have driven across the country many times taking different routes each time. Once you arrive at your destination pay someone to do a really high end detail once you arrive.

Porsche: meant to be driven. I would be more than happy to drive it again...just saying

You will want door to door with an enclosed trailer. See if you can get a "small" setup .... Single deck, 2 or 3 car trailer and pulled with something not massive in size (not a full size tractor/trailer) ..... I think you mentioned SF .... Many streets are narrow and hilly with tight turns. Even small setups have issues with SF. Last time I did door to door to SF, the destination door ended up being Stonestown mall on the west side .... There is enough room at that mall's parking lot for a small setup!

I used Angels twice in 2013, including my SY Cab, and was very satisfied with their transport service. And their prices are reasonable too.

993KT,

Intercity Lines, will be glad to give you a Rennlist rate on your move. Please let us know where in MI the car picks up from and we will shoot you over a quote for this move.
