Default sputtering when engine is cold going up hill?

so I have noticed a handful of time over the last 2 yrs that if the engine is cold (just leaving the house in the morning) and I start going up a long hill close to my house and I am in 2nd or 3rd gear the engine will start sputtering for 10-20 seconds and then it passes and all is good. It only happens going up hill, never on flat roads and never when the car is warmed up. Has anyone had this happen?

No, never had sputtering, but, I'm not sure what you consider cold either, around here 50F is cold.

Mine does that at times. Cleaning the ICV helps, as does running Techron.

"cold" as in the engine has not warmed up. It was probably 70 degrees yesterday afternoon when I started it up and it is fine on the flats but within 2-3 minutes I started heading up the hill in 2nd gear around 4K rpms and it just started stuttering like it was going to die. I put the clutch in, reved the engine (reved just fine), back in gear and still the stuttering for a few seconds and then back to normal and runs great.

tough one, here's some random ideas,
try sending your injectors out to be cleaned
test the fuel pressure on the fuel rail
new fuel filter
vacuum leak

Sorry, yes (why is Porsche different than everyone else?). Also, 4000 rpm before being warmed up is not a good thing.

Pull the MAF and give it a cleaning. It can overcome some episodes of hesitation of flat spot.
