A significant performance in cooling can be had with an almost clear window film from http://huperoptikusa.com/automotive . 3M Company also offers an "almost clear" similarly positioned film material reducing the sun's solar gain.
Having had only the rear window applied with Huper Optik's best and "almost clear" film the coupe's A/C significantly cooled better. After a trial period in the Denver area 95 degree summer sun/heat, the firm Extreme Window Tinting in Lakewood, CO completed filming every window of the 993; windshield as well.
With a demonstrated cooling performance gain ... I had the daily driver VW MkV GTI completed as well.
All disclaimers apply.

I did the griffiths upgrade last fall. Great results, many others have done the same. search the archives, griffiths upgrade is not restricted to 993s.

Never had a cooling issue on my 993 had the issue with my 86' Carrera and the pro-cool kit helped. I would first make sure the system is working properly before any upgrades.

+1. Knock on wood, to date have not had any repair issues with the HVAC.
When that time comes, the Griffiths unit is a herculean system upgrade; it's akin to open heart surgery and not an enhancement done on a whim. A #8 to 9 on a scale of 1 to 10.
Having owned a 1984 Carrera where the A/C was joke ... the 964/993 system provides hope.
