Its kind of funny because the addition of a factory sunroof adds at least $10k to a 356s value. Rarity I guess.

Saw that last night. Probably the most outrageous price I've seen for a 993. I don't care about rarity, appreciation and all that garbage, if you buy that car you are an idiot.

simple question: does he finds a buyer for that price? (hopefully not...)
Asking price for some 'special' 993s at the last 2 main 'classic' events in Germany went through the roof, with >EUR 300,000 ....
That's nuts, but ....
Shame is that all these cars might never see a real road again ...

I think he's smoking crack in general as evidenced by his $50k asking price on a Pastel Yellow coupe with 60k+ miles on it.

Not taking sides, but the market does value rarity. Why are buyers willing to pay a $10,000 premium for pigmentation (see Riviera Blue) or up to $20,000 for a couple of extra inches in the hips (see C2S). Nearly impossible to find a benchmark here in the US for a sunroof delete like this.
Imagine for a moment if all 993's were wide bodies. And then based off of the RS, Porsche introduced a few dozen NB coupes as they closed out the series and marketed them as lighter, more aerodynamic and faster than the WB version. They would command a huge premium and in fact there is precedent here. The US 1989 Speedster was only a WB variant, however in Europe they manufactured a very small number in a NB form. They are impossible to locate and command a huge premium over their WB brethren.
I think all 993's are great cars and IMHO are undervalued relative to some of their earlier air cooled predecesors.

Interesting how that car sat for awhile Tim, my friend bought it and converted it to an RS tribute, still currently doing some interior finishes as we speak. I'll also add the car was in immaculate condition, extremely clean.
