Price for a 60k service?
What's the typical going rate for a 60k (for all you who drive your 993s :-) ?
I'm quoted $1700 at the dealer who's cared for my C4 since new, but there's an independent shop, Randolph Racing, close by, and it's $700 there.

Just looking over Porsche's recommendations that the dealer just faxed me ... seems like it entails everything a regular oil service does (around here, you get both filters and Mobil One for $280 at the dealer), and adds new plugs, gearbox and axle oil, fuel filter and checking belts, lights, horn, etc. Hard to see why that's $1100 more ... but ...
They say 11 hours labor.

Well, the plugs are a big item. Takes several hours to get that done correctly. If you want more info, look here: http://p-car.com/diy/sparkplug/
Several things you missed:
a) pollen filter
b) air filter
c) brake fluid flush
Several things I would do every 30K miles:
a) distrib cap and rotor ( 2 of each for your NA guys! )
I really don't trust the dealer. If I were you, I'd look into finding another independant. The price should be around the $1300 range, and talk to the guy and make sure that he does everything correctly.
11 hours labor doesn't sound completely unreasonable, but I think that an experienced p-car mechanic with all the tools/lift/experience/etc can probably do it in 8 hours. That's based on the time I think it would take me to do it. Of course, the first time I did it, it took me a lot longer than that!

Do it yourself!!! You can't trust anyone, especially a dealer. Do you really think they bother to change the 12th spark plug? I have every receipt from day one (two previuos owners) on my 993 and I know for a fact some of the things on there were never done. Clutch slave had never been bled. You should have seen the goop that came out of there when I did it. Tranny drain and fill plugs had never had a hex wrench put in them - still had factory coating on them. I have a receipt for the 30k mile service that says tranny fluid was changed. Bull$hit! So far I've flushed brakes and clutch slave and have changed engine oil and tranny fluid. They are not at all difficult to DIY, you'll save a ton of money and will feel more connected to your car. I shall tackle belts and spark plugs when I get around to them - not because they need changing, but so I know when they were really done.

If you are in Boston, I'd take it to Jerry at European Performance Engineering in Natick. www.epe.com
Jerry was the ONLY person I would ever trust to touch my car.

David Jankowski (Service Advisor at Inskip) is a completely trustworth guy as well. I had him do the 30K service (at 15K miles) on my car and I had Jerry at EPE do the PSS9 suspension.
Both are top-notch fellows.
