One reason why prices are crazy
I offered to buy this car for the asking price of $45K, pending PPI. Seller was scheduled to take it for PPI and dealer came by and bought it for same price. Two weeks later it is $13K higher ask price. And someone will buy it! Not sour grapes on my part (well, maybe a bit), but just an indication of the crazy pricing game.

Did you have a deposit on it?

Sounds like it was from a private seller. Wonder why he didnt call you to tell you of the other offer? I would have paid for the PPI myself (as I did on my currently owned 993).
Onami: Good luck in your search. An "under 35k mile" car limits the finds. That pastel yellow 65k mile one someone posted earlier looks clean... sometimes the difference between "Clean" and "Mint" is a few days worth of detailing Just keep Sloan on speed dial... Brett always has what someone else is looking for, LOL.

Thanks Rich. I have a line in a mint 28,000 mile car that is hibernating for the winter. Very nice owner too, which makes the wait a little more tolerable I have a 16,000 mile C2S so I am happy to wait for the right car.

600RR - I hear your point .... the present 911 market mechanics play havoc with long term evaluations.

That is crazy, it makes me want to buy another 993 just for the investment. I didn't ever think I would own a car the appreciated instead of depreciated.....Go figure.

IT is pretty crazy how the values keep going up and up! Simple economics really! Supply vs. Demand........ With WB cars being harder and harder to find, sale prices are going to continue to rise. Lately mileage isn't even playing as big a part in the price determination. Cars with documented service history will always command higher prices than cars with a questionable past.
I wish my wife would let me buy another 993. I tried the "it will pay for the kids college education" needless to say, that didn't work :-)

The market is getting crazy for 964 and 993.
Im not sure if i would spend much more money on an older car unless I really had to have it at this point.
good 993 carreras and fetching the same money as 997 carreras.
Non enthusists think were are nuts.

I'm not sentimental about the 964. i thought about getting one and doing a 993 fender/nose update.
then prices went crazy....
are a significant number of 993s being bought up and shipped overseas?

Why do some people use the term 'Mint' when describing a cars condition. Reminds me of John Travolta in Saturday Night Fever

What were the details on the original 45k car?
Supply of 964s and 993s on the market is very low compared to a year ago. Ones that are on the market are priced very high. You have to network and act fast. Last April, a local 95 c2 coupe guards red on tan 6spd came up for for 32k. 100k on it (60miles) and only needed a clutch. I was too slow on that one.
After working with a local seller for 2 months, I should finally have a 993 in the garage next weekend. Lots of ups and downs along the way. An early 997 looks very appealing right about now just because you can find them.
