When I first apply my brake it is firm. If I am decending a ramp to a red light it is initially firm then fades a lot, but if I release the pedel and re apply it is back to the top. 1995 993 with Tip

What you describe doesn't sound like "fade"... it sounds like air in your brake lines. Its possible that a good bleed of the hydraulics might fix it. However, if its been a while since you've refreshed the brake fluid (all the fluid), then now is the time to do it. ts supposed to be done every couple of years on a street-driven car. The brake fluid actually breaks down, and starts absorbing water and air.
