Default Road Trip from NYC to Maryland need some curves

Saturday I am taking my new 993 for a parts run from the NYC area to Upper Marlboro Maryland. I've driven down the I-95 corridor hundreds of times but this time I'd like to take a new route.

Can any Rennlister's in the Delaware Maryland area give me any recommendations. I am looking for a nice scenic route with some interesting roads.

Thanks,
Scotty

Once you get to the Baltimore area, you should take 895 to 97 to Rt.3/301 south. That goes directly to Upper Marlboro. It's still mostly highway but 3/301 is fairly relaxing. I'd suggest even going down all the way on 97 thru Annapolis and taking Rt.2 which turns into 408 thru Harwood and Lothian, to Rt.4 to 301 south to Upper Marlboro.

Or... From Delaware, take exit 1a Rt.896 south to Rt.301 south from up there and come down that way and across the Bay Bridge. Then taking Rt.2 / 408 thru Annapolis, Harwood and Lothian. That's not any longer and definitely more scenic and enjoyable to drive.

Where ya headed to in Upper Marlboro?

Does anyone know if I can program this route into my TomTom iphone app?

If you are going thru Delaware you can stop in Wilmington. Toscana's, Pizza by Elizabeth or Columbus Inn are always good.

If you do pass down 95 in Baltimore, come into the city via Boston Street to my restaurant Johnny Rads Pizzeria Tavern. 2108 Eastern Ave 21231 :eatsomepizza:

Otherwise, there are a few spots here and there but nothing mentionable. At least nothing I could recommend on the route. There is a 5Guys in Crofton

Actually I would advise against taking that curvy road trip right at this time of the year. The roads are horrible, riddled with lots of pot holes and debris from this winter. Great way to ruin your suspension or get a flat. If you are taking the trip, it's better to stay on the interstate.

This was me on Sunday on my way back from PCA Tech Tactics. You can actually see the trim screw in the tire. Thankfully I had everything I needed to do the repair on the spot and be back on the road within 30 minutes:

This is what I keep in the car: http://www.slime.com/shop/tire-plug-...-truck-1034-a/

Posted in the 997TT forum after it happened: https://rennlist.com/forums/997-turb...e-my-tpms.html

In some ways the 997 is very ill equipped to handle a simple flat tire other that can of goop they give you. For starters, they don't even come with a jack from the factory...

Nice save. I was putting so much equity in my spacesaver, this actually would be better with the 993 too, provided you can find the leak.

I really wish the 993 had tpms. I think it is a fantastic safety device. Anybody ever tried any of the aftermarket kits?

Sorry I hijacked the thread. The space saver for me is a last resort if a flat tire is repairable. You basically have to do twice the amount of work if you decide to use the spare:

- Remove wheel with flat tire
- In some cases you'll have to flip a front and rear wheel
- Inflate and mount spare
- Repair tire
- Remove and deflate spare
- Mount original wheel back on

And if you use your spare your speed is limited to 55mph. Versus:

- Remove wheel with flat tire, OR if the flat is on a front wheel you don't even have to do that!!
- Repair
- Inflate and mount

That being said a space saver is essential to have if your tire is damaged beyond repair for instance.

If you have time for a slight detour you could leave I-95 at the New Hope exit and drive up along the Delaware River on the Pennsylvania side (US 32) to hook up with I-78 E to NYC. Lots of great restaurants in the New Hope/Lambertville area. LMK if you need recommendations.

And to ilko's valid concern, not many potholes on River Road (US 32) when I was on it last weekend.

+1 on the slime. I've used it several times in other cars It's great unless you bend a rim or blow out a sidewall.

I plan on removing the MY02 18" and rei-install the 17 inch cup wheels with tall side walls.
