Default Control Arm Bushing Replacement

Not sure if anyone might know the answer to this but here is my question. I have removed the control arms and old bushings from my 1996 993 and am in process of installing the new bushings. The front bushing has a notch which must fit into a slot when re installing the control arm on the car. The old one approximately lined up with the centre mark of the control arm. Does anyone know the correct reinstall for the front bushing in respect to position of the notch

Try looking here. IIRC not critical as long as you hit the slot. http://fdmotorsports.net/Control%20A...%20Install.pdf

Is the car lowered? I have not done the bushings on the 993 yet, but on any other car, I have always marked the neutral position of each arm with weight on wheels before tightening anything.
If the car is at stock height, then do what you said and press the new bushing in with the the notch as close as possible to where the old one was.
The idea is to have as little stress as possible on the bushing when the car is resting on the ground.
This obviously applies to rubber bushings. PU bushings don't need to be clocked since the polyurethane insert can rotate freely anyways.

The article above is for the install with PU bushings, I have the stock sport from Elephant. I don't believe the inner (attached to the forward piece with the notch) is intended to rotate. There must be a procedure somewhere of what position the factory installed the front bushing into the arm. Since the bushing is now out I can't mark where it was. Didn't think about it being an issue till it was time to reinstall. The procedure in the article great if you are installing the PU bushing kit as the centre rotates.

As removed from the car, the 'key' on the steel bushing is parallel to the arm.

Got it. That's the mark I was referring to, it's in the middle of the casting or the seam. Thanks for the info. Andreas, your car sounds like mine polar silver, black leather except I'm a 96.
