Default 993 C4S wheel and tire fitment questions

Hello everyone,

I recently picked a beautiful '96 Iris blue c4s, and I am looking into upgrading the wheels. I love the look of Work Brombachers on a wb 993, and hoping that I could get some advice on wheel and tire size.

I would like to lower the car on KW V3 coilovers and then change the wheels.
What I would like to run is...

-245/40/18 and 315/30/18, I would like to run toyo proxes r888, I don't know if any one has this set up with r888s, but it would be great to hear if its possible, considering that different tires have different widths. I am not against fender rolling, but would prefer to not have to do it

I would like to run Work Brombachers, 10' front and either 12' or 13' rear. Although it seems unnecessarily wide, I would like to fit the largest wheel possible to stretch the tires and get a larger surface area/contact patch.
Any opinions or thoughts? Negative camber might be required for this set up.

Work offers their 18' Brombachers in many different offsets, what would be the best offset for a 10' front, and a 12' or 13' rear?

Thank in advance to all the knowledgably Porsche enthusiast, and I am excited to join the 993 group.

well...8 1/2" fronts, and 11" rears will more than fit those tire sizes. There is at least one guy on here...maybe more, running those tire widths. Offsets are critical here, and I'm no expert. That's BIG rubber for these cars, with a lowered ride height...it's all gotta be just right.

Best of luck, and if you nail it...we'll all be jealous.

So..........what's the end game in having a worse car after you're done, than before?

Guessing you've run 888's before, and are the 1-in-a-thousand guy who was happy with them?

I run all my old 997 GT3 18" heat cycled out garbage track tires on my 993 C4S.

This includes Toyo R888 in 305 and Falken 315s. Hell, I have even installed left over PS2 in 315….

I would run Nitto NT-01s if I were buying sticky new track tires for my C4S… But I wouldnt oversized.

Those are big tires/wheels for a NA car, I would use recommend wheels width for the size of tire you want (keeping in mind larger/wider wheels are heavier and hurt performance), for a NA car going that big I would suspect will make it slower. Having said that, if you're just going for the look, I've used 255/35/18 and 315/30/18 r888's on 8.5x18 et52, 11x18 et 40, no fender rolling, -3.2 f -2.8 rear (will also work with -2.5 all around). I could fit wider wheels but I see no advantage of adding weight and I don't subscribe to the stretching/contact patch/responsiveness theory.

Why do you want to go so wide? It may be good for bragging rights but little else.

^^ that's what I was thinking. You pay a disproportionate amount MORe for those big tires too....I have relatively "normal" 285/35 in 10" wide twists and there's plenty of rubber there.

I've run slammed and flush wheel setups on my cars over the years because I love the look. Wide wheels, low offsets, stretched tires, rolled or flared fenders.

I don't think many here have gone for this type of setup so you are going to have to do your own measurements. If you really want them flush in 10" and 12" you will need to roll or cut the fenders.

Personally I don't feel the need to do it on a 993 but that's my personal opinion.

Any pictures of this setup? I'm surprised that fit without fender rolling. Did the tires rub at all?

The front passenger side will rub on the inside at max clock when turning right. I also got some rubbing on a down hill corner (?turn 6/7 at ridgemotorsport park) which probably is only a problem at my ride hight and remedied by stiffening the motons by one click...

Only pic I currently have on this computer with these wheels/tires (r888)

I am not trying to look "stanced" or whatever, just trying to fit as much rubber as possible. Maybe 13s are a bit ridiculous and certainly heavier then 12s with little advantage. Also, I have experience with r888s, and although they are generally hated upon, I know them well, and have experience on them. I am certainly open to moving brands, r888s have just been my "go to" tire for a few years now.

Thank you for all the advice.

Default would you consider 19's?

These bad boys are for sale. Currently sitting under my TT and this is slammed as well. Pm if interested. They are Victor Equipment. Cheers and best of luck in your search. I believe they are 8's and 10's but I would have to confirm. May not be wide enough for you based on what I'm seeing though.

well, stock fenders have their limit's. Regarding the fronts, you should have lots of data points here, since all 993's have the same front fenders. Different suspension systems-spring diameters, ride height, etc...can affect fit.

That being said, many here have 235/245 fronts on 8 1/2" wide rims, et range from 40-45 is aggressive. Many here also run 305/315 on an 11" wide rear, et can range comfortably 38-40.

Whatever tire brand you favor, will affect size availability, and possibly fit. No two like tire's are identical. tread width, height, and weight...can vary between manufacturers. Even tire shape-square shoulder vs rounded, can affect fit.

I understand wanting to nail the fit first time, when ordering custom wheels. Better to be slightly conservative and have the wheels fit, than go real aggressive and they don't. In the end, you can still install spacers. I went 8 1/2" et 45 front, 11" et 38 rear, run 235/295.

Good luck
