Replacement fog light lenses
I wonder if any anyone has made reproduction "plastic" fog light lenses. Many out there are very pitted and I feel a replacement lens would be a cool improvement. Maybe they need to be made of glass for some reason?
If they were made out of plastic, they would match up nicely with the clear signal ones that are available. Better than glass next to plastic IMO.
I wonder how hard it would be to have some made up. How would I start the process? Would 993 folks buy these? They may even fit on 968s?

If they were plastic, you would need to put the clear film, otherwise they will look like crap in a year. Glass is much harder material than plastic (obviously). Taking them off the adhesive would not be easy if you have to replace them.
You can always have the glass resurfaced.

Removing the lenses from the sealed unit is not very difficult. I have done a few. It takes about 30 minutes to separate the lens from the sealed unit with a Dremel tool with thin cut off wheel. I used some Goop silicon sealant to reattach and they have been solid for a couple years, and plastic would be lighter too.
For most of us that drive our cars less that 2 or 3 K miles a year, I am sure the plastic lens would last for a long time.
Personally, I have never been a fan of the air scoops, especially if they are not plumbed to cool the brakes. I like the look of the fog lights much better. That is just me.

The main reason I changed mine to the ducts was the glass/plastic mix of the indicators and spots looks shyte. Plastic that matches the indicators would look loads better!

I agree with you there. Especially if the front bumperettes have been removed.

I agree with the miss match between the clear corners and the OEM fogs. I dislike the fog/duct option.
So I refinished a spare set of mine and with the interior chrome paint and the use of clear sealant I think it looks like a better match with keeping the OEM look.

Silver Fog Light assemblies ... brings continuity to the corners
Hans -
The silver fog light assemblies look great...next to the silver blinkers.
I too recently changed out both Euro fog and blinker assemblies for new OEM; components sourced through www.carnewal. Stupid costs to these items . . . And what,,, didn't Hella get out of the business manufacturing these lighting 993 items??
Gotta luv what a can be done with both TIME and a dremel tool. Again, silver fog assembly effort looks great.
