Default More on importing cars to Calif.

Ok here is some more info on the heart break of finding
a grey market car. If you find a car you want to bring in
to this state of confusion you first must go to a state lab.
this state lab is going to charge you around $2500 buckerinees
to test your car, if it passes $2500 and you go to a smog
Referee. If he says it passes you get a BAR sticker which
is a Bureau of Automotive Repair sticker. then you go happily
to the smog station then to DMV and you are one happy camper.
OH but wait waste gate breath. IF it fails at the State Lab then
its only $1000 and then they fix it, charge you for parts and
labor, THEN test it again and if it passes $2500 again. NOW
then you go back to the Referee and there is no gaurantee
he is going to pass it, and then off to the smog station-and DMV.
bottom line, buy an american car.
Oh and I think this is only good on 2 year old cars or newer.
Just call me Dr Smaug!
