I don't know about installing them, but I was told the factory unit only fits 97 and later cars.

People who have wanted to install baby seats have been down this path.

This link may help.

I recently had an aftermarket passenger side airbag deactivation unit installed in my '96 993 - there is no OEM solution for this. I used a company by the name of "Sensible Solutions". I posted my experiences on this board on 7-15-03. Do the search (don't know how to post a reference to another thread). More questions, send me a PM.

Point of caution, do not toggle the switch whiile the key is in the ignition - your airbag warning light will come on. I am currently trying to find out how to reset it.
