My understanding is that one of the changes to reduce the belt failure problem was to change the formulation of the belt material so it is ozone resistant. I sent an info request off to Bosch, Gates and ContiTech to see if this was true and if their belts are made of the updated material. I got acknowledgement of my request from all three. Only ContiTech had a sales rep email me back. The response did not answer the question.

I'd be surprised to actually get ANY reply back from one of those companies on such a question.

The Gates and Continental belt catalogs list which of their products are ozone resistant, the Gates PowerGrip XL that Pelican is selling is not (they are now also selling the Contitech belt!) As for the "impossible-to-find" bearings, they (12.45mm x 32 x 10) are available from INA using part #7201-BE-2RS-AH01.
