Unhappy OT: Dodge Viper resale value not so great...

I am still trying to sell the 2002 Dodge Viper I have listed it on Ebay 3 times and I have not had a bid over $57,100. I am trying to get $60,000 for it which seems like a total loss for a 2002 in brand new condition with 59 miles on it. These cars apparently lose a ton of money right off the bat, we know that every car does but to have a sticker over $77,000 and not be able to sell it for $60,000 seems crazy.

Any ideas on different places I could advertise the car. I plan on using autotrader what other companies have on line services that members have had good luck with. TIA

Well, you could take it to a less desireable or more volatile part of town and see what those boys could conjur up...

Greg,

I wonder if the introduction of the completely redesigned Viper is taking its toll. Personally, I prefer the older design myself and wish I could help you out by buying it. Just not the right time for us. I hope you encounter better luck!

Judging by the rest of the ads on eBay, you are lucky to get 57K. Also, the RT/10s do not have as strong a resale as the Coupes.

Good luck. And as my username implies, I used to own a '97 Viper (of course with extensive modifications).

Er, why are you selling a car with 59 miles on it?? Did you change your mind?

It's an RT10 loaded with every available option, and with 59 miles on it ...it is new. My boss has 50+ cars and every once in awhile he will find something else he likes and he sells off one or two of them. But he doesn't want to take that large of a loss. I bought a 2003 from him for a lot less than what he paid for it and made pretty good money off it. If I had the money and the time I think the car would eventually go for $64 or $65K with the miles it has on it. So $60,000 would seem like a good deal if you could wait it out until you find a buyer for mid $60's.

I will wait another week or two and see what happens and maybe try the Viper Classifieds. Someone that wants this bodystyle would basically be getting a brand new car.
