Default Question on Wide Ovals

Hi,

I was able to find a used set of 993 NB Wide Oval OEM Tips for a reasonable cost. My question is, do the OEM tips come new with the interior of the wide opening painted black or is it polished stainless? The set I bought was covered in carbon so I am not sure if I am stripping paint as I am stripping the carbon.

If they are painted black from the factory, I plan to go back in with some high temp flat black paint.

Thanks

You can polish them, they'll just turn black again...

Thanks, I plan to use the VHT Flame Proof flat black paint and then run the paint through the indicated curing process.

What are you planning for the exterior finish? I have these on my car and was thinking about how to refinish. Are they polished stainless or chromed?

Send them out to FDM and get ceramic coated. Black velvet.

I'm not sure if the exterior is chromed or polished stainless but suspect it is chromed due to the areas that have blued from the high heat. I may be wrong. Anyway, the exteriors look good, so I plan to just shine them up and install

I had 2 given to me sometime ago; the PX side polished up beautifully but the driver's side wouldn't take the same finish, both are stainless steel.

The PX part # 993 111 252 11 96 02 M493/M 159
Driver's part # 993 111 251 10 99 12 M493

The PET shows 6 left and 6 right tips for 1996 and 1996

So the pair I have are clearly mismatched, but not noticeable unless one is looking very closely.

Anyone else have mis-matched pairs?

M159 is the engine sound package tip, basically the stainless one chrome plated, these are not wide ovals though
