Default 3M Paint Defender

Has anyone tried it? It seems to be essentially a spray-on clear bra..... DIY application, claimed to last a year, peel-off and re-do.....

I haven't used the product (yet) but did some research on it. It seems to be a cheap alternative to actual 3M film applications, but you have to be very good at applying it. It needs to be even and sprayed in the correct thicknesses per layer in order to take it off semi easily. Its similar to spray plastidip applications. There's lots of videos on YouTube of what plastidip looks like applied correctly and incorrectly and how that affects it's removal. That said I'd love to hear from someone who's actually tried it. I'm too afraid to put it on the Porsche as I'm not great with aerosol sprays.

I've read about this product as well. Seems like it could be an alternative to clear wrap. I too, have been reluctant to try it out on the Porsche. Maybe I'll try it on the daily driver this summer. If I do, I'll post the results.

I tired it - on another car. very difficult to apply so that it is clear. mine came out very hazy and with a few "splatter" marks. then when I went to remove it! OMG what a nightmare! took me hours. email exchanges with 3M had them saying it wasn't sprayed heavily enough. and they had a few early cans with defective spray nozzles. so maybe a number of coats (I put three) would work better? i'm not anxious to try it again....

so in summary - does it provide some protection - yes - does it look like a good clear bra? no way! if you want to protect your honda civic - why not. but the Porsche - can't recommend it!

I wouldn't waste time and money on it.

If they perfect this, it might work really well in the wheel well rocker area where gravel rash occurs.
