Default Out she comes from hibernation

Given that I work in Sngapore, my 993 usually only gets a work out whenever I return to Perth for my sanity breaks. These breaks can come about every couple of months. However, the last few trips back have been taken up by time driving my little old MX5 as I have gradually been restoring it (you have to love this little ladies car... It truly is a wonderful machine!).

Ok so this isn't an MX5 forum, but heck I can't stop sharing the love on that car.... But ok back to all things Porsche....

Any way given that yesterday was Christmas, I figured it would be time to really treat the old flat six, so I went to pick it up. Taking it out again after so many months felt like unwrapping my Christmas present early... Even after close to 10 years of owning this 911 (longest car I have ever held onto)!

Unwrapping the old bird....

Ahhhh that familiar smell that only a real pre water cooled 911 emanates from its leather and plastics...

Getting the battery connected....

Fingers crossed that it starts up... (Well I'm pretty sure it will as it has done so over the last 10 years of stupidly infrequent use)...

MX5 goes into storage (both my cars are kept off site as the place in Perth does not have sufficient storage for my two cars given i stay at my parents whenever in Perth as my place in Perth is rented out)...

A quick trip to the petrol station for the weeks fuel requirements...

Then I hit the streets where I see a lovely yellow 993 in the opposite direction. Sadly didn't manage to get a picture...

Will post more pics as the next two weeks progresses (assuming I don't go back to the Mx5... Darn this weather is good!)

A wonderful Boxing Day and a great and safe new year to all....

Cheers,

Harold

Very Nice Harold. I picked up a green NB Miata a couple of months ago (it's pretty rough compared to yours) to take autocrossing next year, it makes the 993 seem like a SUV lol. Unfortunately up here we have 2 to 3 months before the weather will be cooperative.

Nice!

I really love the Cedar Green.

It is very hard to photograph color-rendition wise, but looks so awesome in person.

Al- As I started reading this thread, I was thinking to myself, "Al should see this". It's indeed a beautiful color in person.

OP- beautiful 993 and very nice looking Miata. Enjoy

Sweet NA Miata! It's amazing how well the Miatas drive. Looks like you've got it well dialed in.

I just picked up a Miata Roadster short shift kit for my 2002.

Miata still one of the best cars ever made, wonderful example. For those that think it is a chick car should get out and drive one. Pure driving in its purest form.

Haha yes mate... Great minds think alike... Though mine doesn't get used for auto crossing or anything near as exciting.... it really is an amazing car to drive. Interestingly it was the first new car I ever bought when I got my first job, and its still one of my all time favorite cars!

I need to show the family your post! 10 years on and each time they get into the car they still say its way too green hahaha.

Thanks very much mate, the weather has been good to me! Taking the 993 to Mandurah for the next few days (a longer drive than it has been on in years).... Can't wait.

Will do.... The sun burn is testament to too much of a good thing...

Thanks for noticing that head unit! Pulled it out of a JDM Subaru Legacy as it looked so retro. Was a pain to install though given the unusual size.

Much appreciated grinch!

Haha it's basically where I store the cars when overseas. It's a garage that was as you say converted into a bit of a showcase for the cars but ended up becoming pure storage place in the end.

Thanks Mark! Can the gear change in a miata get any better?! Hahaha.

Doberdog.... Got to agree with you mate. Over 20 years on and it's still an amazing ride.... Although the chassis flex is getting to me finally!
